The first thing you need to know, is that we have not one, but two gyms on campus! The Sport Village and Centre are on different sides of the University campus, and have slightly different facilities. York Sport Village has a gym, a pool, fitness classes and 3G pitches, while the Sport Centre has a gym, tennis courts and an athletics track.

Whichever gym you join, we’re giving you a bonus! Sign up with our University Accommodation membership and you also get a free BUCS UNIversal membership, so you can use other University gyms across the country for no extra charge!

York Sport Village – JOIN NOW!

York Sport Village is on Campus East, and getting here is easy! The 66 stops every 15-20 minutes, or its a 20 minute walk or a 6 minute bike ride from Campus West.

What is included in your membership at the Village?

Gym: Our 120 station fitness suite features ‘Technogym’ cardio, strength and resistance equipment, as well as free weights and a stretch area – all cardio equipment has interactive screens where you can access social media and streaming services.

Classes: We currently have over 70 classes to choose from per week, and we always have something for all fitness levels and abilities. Your membership also includes access to our livestream and on-demand classes.

Studios: 2 air conditioned fitness studios and 1 dedicated spin studio used for our Group Cycle classes.

Swimming Pool: Our eight lane, 25m pool is perfect for serious lane swimmers and casual swimmers alike.

Health Suite: The suite is equipped with a sauna and spa pool, allowing you to unwind after your rewarding workout.

Additionally, other facilities at the Village are:
· 1km floodlit traffic-free outdoor Cycle Circuit
· 250m Velodrome
· 3G Pitches: We have four 3G pitches including; three five-a-side pitches and one fully floodlit competition size outdoor 3G football pitch. They feel, look and play like grass in virtually all weather conditions. They’re available for league and match bookings or one-off kickabouts.

York Sport Centre is located on Campus West next to James College, which is close to the Student Union and Roger Kirk Centre. Just look for the big athletics track.

What is included in your membership at the Centre?

Gym: The gym boasts one of the largest and best equipped strength and conditioning facilities in the UK. It’s perfect for performance athletes or team squads, and our strength and conditioning coaches and personal trainers are always available to boost your workout.

Athletics Track: Members can also benefit from free off-peak access to the new Athletic Stadium, from 09:00-16:30 on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Additionally, other facilities at the Centre are:

· Squash courts
· York Sport Arena, suitable for a range of sports including badminton, basketball, netball, football, futsal and many more.
· Sports hall for badminton, basketball, and volleyball.
· Floodlit artificial hockey and football pitch.
· Floodlit outdoor, and indoor tennis and netball courts

·39 acres of grass playing fields which are currently used for rugby, football, cricket, lacrosse and hockey.

Terms & Conditions:

The membership is for one full calendar year and will start on Monday 18th September 2022. You must complete the health & safety induction before you can use the facilities. On your first visit to us, you will be asked for your UoY student ID and proof of your tenancy with the UoY. The membership is non-refundable except during exceptional circumstances as per our terms and conditions. Members can freeze their membership once in a rolling 12 month period for a minimum of 1 month and up to 3 consecutive months free of charge. Additional freeze months can be purchased at a cost of £10 per month, per freeze. Your membership will be extended accordingly to account for any freeze periods.
