Personal Training Open Evening: Tuesday 28 February, 5-8pm at York Sport Village. Whether you’re looking for specialist advice, extra motivation or are simply curious, don’t miss our upcoming open evening. It’s a great chance to meet our personal trainers and find out more about personal training and personal programmes.

We’ll be offering free body analysis on the night using our brand new scales to measure your body fat percentage, muscle mass, bone mass density and more (and tell you what they all mean!), with a lucky few getting a free personal programme.

As if that wasn’t enough, there will also be a fitness challenge taking place, with a prize for the winner and a prize draw for all participants. Register here so you don’t miss out!

Personal Programme

A Personal Programme is a one-off session lasting one hour, ideal if you want direction to a workout, are a bit unsure of certain kit, or if you’ve reached a plateau in your training and need new ideas. At the end of your session you will receive a personal written report, detailing observations and recommendations made by your personal instructor. We recommend a follow-up session 6-8 weeks after this session.

Your first session costs £10, and £5 for a review session. These sessions can be booked at any time convenient for you, just ask at reception or the fitness desk.

Personal Training

Alternatively our Personal Training sessions are also a great way to get more from your workout! Relaunched in March, our new PT packages are completely goal-focused, allowing you to achieve your goals in 6 weeks. Personal Trainers design and customise a workout for your individual needs.

BRONZE: 1 session per week for 6 weeks
SILVER: 2 sessions per week for 6 weeks
GOLD: 3 sessions per week for 6 weeks

You can book your Personal Training sessions with the fitness team at both York Sport Village and York Sport Centre. Please note that York Sport Centre members may need to complete their training sessions at York Sport Village (no extra cost).

    About me:

    Through studying sports science I have learned how to get the best out of people whilst making themselves feel good.

    I like to get people moving properly so they are fit for day-to-day life, rather than just for an hour in the gym! By doing this I will help you avoid injury, correct your posture, as well as improve your performance through the use bodyweight and strength exercises.

    About me:

    Before starting a career in the fitness industry two years ago, I spent 10 years as a serious swimmer. I competed at National level, and coached other swimmers in their strength and conditioning work.

    I understand how hard it can be to set goals and create a training programme. Performing at a high level requires hard work, but getting there can be fun and enjoyable.

    My easy-going but effective approach will guarantee results and keep you interested along the way. As an ex-swimmer I will go to any ‘lengths’ to help you dive into optimum health and fitness.

    I know how the body works, and how to use it! I have worked with a huge variety of clients, from the obese, the elderly and the injured through to those at the top of their game.

    Variety is key to succeeding and maintaining a fitter, healthier lifestyle. Exercise should be about pushing yourself hard, but you should also find it fun and highly rewarding.

    For some even stepping foot in a gym is a big step and as your trainer, all I ask is that you are willing to work hard. In return, I ensure your sessions are enjoyable and that you receive all the support & encouragement you deserve!

    About Me:

    I have been working in the fitness industry for over two years and I am committed to getting the best out of my clients. I have extensive personal training experience with over 50 clients currently on my books with over 50% regularly having training sessions, once or twice a week. Programmes are tailored to the needs of the individual and I cater for both sexes (I’m proud that 40% of my customers are women). My clients have a wide range of fitness abilities. I develop programmes that aid weight loss, improved strength and in all cases, clients benefit from increased cardio fitness. I do this by pushing them further than they think possible and always in an enjoyable and fun way. Specialised equipment includes sandbags, sand bells, hammers, resistance bands and even tractor tyres! Kickboxing is also a firm client favourite. No two sessions are ever the same!

    I started my career in the health and fitness with a bachelor’s degree in sport science, from which I went on to complete my Master specialising in Biomechanics and Physiology. Throughout this I have gained a wide range of specific knowledge and practical skills to assist my personal training. Training is supposed to be challenging, hard work but enjoyable.  Whatever your goals, I will plan an effective and motivating training programme to help you achieve these. I like to make sure my clients are working in their own time to help benefit our sessions, weekly goal setting and personalised programmes help us together to reach your goals and push past them onto the next.
