Easter Holiday Triathlon Camps

After the success of our Summer and February half term (SOLD OUT) Triathlon Camps, York Sport will be running two junior triathlon training camps during the Easter holidays, the camps are based at York Sport Village and will include lots of exciting activities in the swimming pool and on the Cycle Circuit, both theory & practical.  This time of year is perfect for mixing up training, introducing new ideas ahead of Summer.  The camps are aimed at young triathletes age 8-14 years old and will be delivered by our expert team of coaches Alex Wormald, Triathlon Coach and David Jey, Cycling Coach.

Weekly Triathlon (Bike/Run) Sessions

Welcome to Junior Triathlon, the perfect way to keep active and stay healthy all year round. Our junior triathlon sessions run every week and you can sign up at any time so don’t be shy, it’s never too late to start! Each weekly session will focus on cycling, running, transition skills and conditioning, led by fully qualified British Triathlon & British Cycling coaches.

 

Taster Sessions Available (Booking Required Below)

The Spring Term is underway but don’t worry! Book on to one of the sessions for a FREE taster to see if it is something your child will enjoy. Once you’ve been to the taster session you can decide if you would like to sign up to the remaining weeks of the course.

We have three separate weekly sessions for a range of different age groups, attending the same group each week. Click on the most suitable option below to book your FREE taster session:

Mondays 4:30 – 5:30 – Tristar 1 & Tristar 2 (age 9-12)

Wednesday 4:30 – 5:30 – Tristart & Tristar 1 (age 8-10)

Wednesday 5:45 – 6:45 – Tristar 2 & Tristar 3 (age 11-14)

*Tristar & Tristart is British Triathlon’s name for children’s age groups in Triathlon. More information can be found on the British Triathlon website. Age groups have been organised based on the age of the children by December 31st 2020. 

Cost
£66.00 for 12 weeks (£5.50 per session), payable in advance on booking.

Bike/Helmet Hire
It would be great if your child can bring their own bike and helmet to the sessions. If this is not possible, we currently offer both bike & helmet hire on a first come first served basis (additional £21.00 for 12 weeks or £1.75 per session)

Additional Weekly PAYG Coached Swim Sessions
These additional sessions are only open to participants on the Junior Triathlon programme and are available to book on a weekly basis. Bookings will open at 12pm the preceding Thursday  for the following week and this is when we will announce the session plan. E.g. Open water techniques, sighting, mass swim start, and drafting etc.

Wednesday evenings 7:00pm – 8:00pm.

Cost
£5.50 per session – Paid online at time of booking.

Places are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis.

  • Where will the training take place?

    Bike/Run sessions will be held at the York Sport Cycle Circuit at the York Sport Village (Lakeside Way Heslington YO10 5FG) Weather Permitted.

    Swim sessions will be held at the York Sport Swimming Pool at the York Sport Village (Lakeside Way Heslington YO10 5FG).

  • Who can take part?

    This course is aimed at Children ages 8-14 and will cater to all abilities.

  • How much are the courses?

    The 12-week course starting the week commencing 6th January 2020 is £66.00

    The weekly swim sessions are £5.50.

  • What do I need to bring?

    Cycle Circuit Sessions

    Bike/Run sessions are outdoors so please wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.

    If you are bringing your own bike, it is essential that it is checked and it is roadworthy before you attend. Helmets are compulsory.

    Please make sure children are wrapped up warm, gloves, hats and a rain jacket are also recommended.

    We suggest you wear comfortable clothing, preferably no dresses or skirts to avoid anything getting caught in bike wheels or chain. Strictly no sandals.

    Layering clothing is the best way to stay warm and you can always shed a layer if you get too hot.

    A bottle of water will help to keep you hydrated.

     

    Pool Guidelines

    In order to ensure the smooth running of lessons we ask that parents would not enter poolside

    Please ensure that you arrive in enough time to change and arrive on poolside just before the session.

    Please also remember to bring a water bottle to keep hydrated during swim sessions.

    Don’t forget your swim hat if you have long hair and your swimming goggles.

    York Sport Triathlon Swim hats must be worn for all triathlon swim sessions.

    Special offer until Easter 2020! When you book onto your first PAYG swim session you will get a FREE York Sport Junior Triathlon Swim Hat.

  • Do you provide bikes and helmets?

    If you would like to hire a bike you need to book this in advance (select “add to appointment…” on the booking page) otherwise you will need to bring a roadworthy bike. Please note – We have a limited number of bikes and these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

    Bike and Helmet Hire will be £21.00 for the 12 week Course.

  • What happens if there is bad weather?

    The sessions will go ahead each week unless there is significantly bad weather.

    The coach will check the weather forecast the morning of a session and make a call if the weather is particularly bad. If there is indoor space, the coach will email and call the parents and let them know the session has been moved indoors. If no indoor space is available, the session will be cancelled and parents will be notified by email in the morning and refunds will be given for that session.
