Fitness Classes

We have the largest range of fitness classes in York! With over 75 classes to choose from, we offer something for all ages, fitness levels and abilities. We have fitness favourites like Zumba, Group Cycle and Yoga, as well as the new and unique classes like Metafit. We also have Aqua classes, as well as Over 50’s fitness plus a range of popular Les Mills classes like Body Combat and Body Attack. We pride ourselves on giving you as much choice as possible when it comes to fitness classes and we’re to help you.

The Instructors

Our team of friendly and experienced instructors will make you feel welcome and ensure that you have a fun workout in our air-conditioned studios. If you’re new to the class, the instructor will welcome you and guide you through the session. Options are available for all abilities, making it fun for everyone.

Pay as you go

You can pay as you go for off-peak classes at York Sport Village, and do not need to be a member to attend these.  Classes are priced at £4.50, and you can book for classes before 5pm Monday to Friday, and after 12pm on weekends.

  • Aqua

    A water based low impact class, great for your joints. Using the resistance of the water, you will perform a fun routine to music whilst increasing your heart rate and toning your muscles.

    Aqua classes are held at the York Sport Village.

  • Barre

    Barre is a fusion of Ballet, Pilates, Yoga and resistance training. Set to up-tempo music this class gives you a fast and fun full body workout, with no tutu needed!

  • Body Attack

    A sports inspired cardio workout for building strength and stamina. This high energy interval class combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilisation movements.

    Body Attack classes are held at the York Sport Village and York Sport Centre.

  • Body Balance

    The Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength. Stretches, moves and poses set to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony.

  • Body Combat

    A cardio workout inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide range of disciplines such as Karate, Boxing, Taekwondo, Tai Chi and Muay Thai.

  • Body Pump

    A weight-based group fitness programme that challenges every muscle group in your body by using weights and music to help you strengthen and tone.

    Body Pump classes are held at the York Sport Village.

  • Box HIIT

    Box HIIT is an exercise class based on the training concepts boxers use to keep fit. Classes can take a variety of formats but a typical one may involve shadow-boxing, skipping, hitting pads, press-ups, shuttle-runs and sit-ups.

  • Circuits

    A great combination of conditioning, resistance and aerobic exercise. It is easy to follow and enables you to work to your own strengths and capabilities within exercise stations. Great for burning fat & toning up.

  • Group Cycle

    A high intensity bike based workout, great for burning calories and toning muscles. Our new Group Cycle studio enhances your workout, keeping you motivated and working hard.

  • Kettlebells

    A cast iron weight used to perform ballistic exercises that combine cardiovascular work with strength and flexibility training.

  • LBT (Legs, Bums & Tums)

    A class focused on notoriously problematic areas, aimed at improving tone, definition, strength and endurance.

  • MetaFit

    Looking for the workout that gets big results? To burn fat you need to change the resting metabolism. Work big muscle groups with simple unchoreographed, high intensity intervals and get quick results.

  • Over 50’s Fitness

    A low impact class for people ages 50 and over, designed to help improve fitness, mobility and flexibility. The class will get you moving and provide a whole body workout with fun exercises.

  • Pilates

    A form of body conditioning that focuses on spinal and pelvic alignment. It also encourages breathing control, co-ordination and balance. A great way to improve your core and relieve stress.

  • Pure Stretch

    Designed to lengthen the body, strengthen the core, increase your range of movement, decrease your risk of injury and improve your quality of life.

  • Yoga

    Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.

  • Zumba

    Move your body Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Reggeaton, Mambo, Cha-Cha, Hip Hop and even Belly Dancing. Combining fast and slow rhythm to tone and sculpt your body whilst burning fat.
