York Sport organise and host a variety of training courses. We deliver lifeguarding and first aid courses throughout the year, as well as hosting CORE Fitness courses on-site.   • RLSS NPLQ / Lifeguard Courses

    The internationally recognised Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS UK) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is not only a qualification that will train you to become a Pool Lifeguard but can also be a stepping stone into a career within the leisure industry.

    The courses is 36 hours long, plus assessment time and requires 100% attendance. It comprises of physical training, classroom work and a practical assessment on lifeguard theory, pool rescue, first aid and CPR. The course is physically demanding, including swimming to set times, lifting casualties and diving to the deepest part of the pool.

    Approved prior learning can be applied upon proof of certification, please ask your trainer for further details.

  • First Aid at Work Training

    York Sport Village delivers first aid training throughout the year. Our regular First Aid at Work courses enable candidates to act as first aiders, teaching them how to look after first aid equipment and how to call emergency services when required. Successful participants will achieve a first aid qualification valid for three years upon completion.  Participants must be at least 16 years of age.

    First Aid at Work Training Covers:

    The importance of preventing cross-infection

    Recording incidents and actions

    How to use available equipment

    Acting safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

    Administering first aid to a casualty in a variety of scenarios

    Administering CPR

    Minor injuries including small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns, scalds and small splinters.

    In order to re-qualify learners need to attend a renewal course which is spread across 2 days.

  • Emergency First Aid at Work Training

    York Sport Village delivers first aid training throughout the year. Our regular First Aid at Work courses enable candidates to act as first aiders, teaching them how to look after first aid equipment and how to call emergency services when required. Successful participants will achieve a first aid qualification valid for three years upon completion.  Participants must be at least 16 years of age.

    Emergency First Aid At Work Training Covers:

    The Emergency First Aid At Work qualification aims to enable candidates to act as a first aider and take charge of the first aid arrangements, including looking after the equipment and facilities, and calling the emergency services when required.

    Emergency First Aid at Work Training Covers:

    Administering first aid to casualties in a variety of scenarios

    Administering CPR

    Providing first aid for minor injuries

    Administering first aid and CPR to a child

    Administering first aid to a casualty who is suffering from a variety of sports-related injuries.

    This is a 6 hour course that comprises theoretical and practical work which includes a practical assessment on CPR and First Aid.

    Pre-requisites: All candidates must be 16 years of age at the time of assessment.

    National Pool Plant Operators Certificate:

  • IoS Pool Plant Operator Revalidation (ROPPP)

    Revalidation – National Pool Plant Operators Certificate:

    One day course to provide qualified NPPO candidates with the necessary technical updates on management of PH and chlorine levels, use of UV, health & safety, advances in technology and equipment and the differences in operation of spa, swimming and hydrotherapy pools.
