Sport Village Closure - Thursday 21st December

Sport Village Closure

Closure Details and Sport Centre Access

On Thursday 21st December 2017, the York Sport Village will close early at 2pm to enable essential repairs and maintenance work to take place.

After 2pm on Thursday 21st December, all Sport Village members will have access to the gym facilities at York Sport Centre. We have made every effort to move the fitness classes taking place at the Sport Village over to the Sport Centre, using our studio and halls. The fitness classes still available can be viewed through our online booking system for that day, or you can see class cancellations on this page.

The works taking place at the Sport Village will be ongoing overnight. As a result we cannot guarantee they will be completed for the normal Sport Village opening time of 6am on the morning of Friday 22nd December. Therefore the Sport Centre gym will also be available on the morning of Friday 22nd December, with the Sport Centre opening earlier than normal at 6am to allow our members access to gym facilities at their normal time.

We anticipate the Sport Village to be back open as normal from 9am on Friday 22nd December. If this changes we will update through our website and social media channels.

Please be aware that if you do use the Sport Centre facilities, you will need to get a parking pass from reception if you are parking before 6pm.

Details of Sport Village Works

In September, a leak was discovered within the main hot water tank with services all our showers and taps throughout the building. It was quickly identified that the tank could not be permanently repaired and a new replacement would be required.

Since September, a number of short term repairs have been made to enable us to keep the facilities up and running whilst a new tank was commissioned and built. We are very pleased that the new tank is now completed and ready to be installed. This work is significant and will require contractors to isolate and drain the water supply to the building. For this reason, regrettably we will require to close early on Thursday 21st December at 2pm.
Work to install the new system will continue into the evening and overnight with a view to the facility re-opening on Friday 22nd December at 9am.

Whilst every effort will be made to ensure the works are completed as scheduled and on time, we are aware that delays could be possible and we would ask any customers planning to visit the facility on Friday morning to check our website and social media feeds beforehand to avoid an unnecessary journey.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these works, and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
