  • What happens after I sign up?

    You will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours, and there will be a link in this email to book your fitness induction.

  • Can I bring guests?

    At York Sport Village all members have two VIP guest passes per month, allowing your guests access to all the member facilities. Guests must be aged 16 or above.

    Please be advised that booking is required for classes and swimming, so it’s best to call us ahead of time on 01904 325751 to let us know your guests’ details and to book sessions.

  • Who do the concession rates apply to?

    Concession rates apply to University of York employees, Armed Forces Personnel and over 60s. We also have a corporate rate available for a selection of employers.

  • Where is York Sport Village, and how do I get there?

    The Sport Village is located just off Hull Road, by Grimston Bar Park & Ride. It is situated on the edge of the University of York’s Heslington East Campus.

    The number 66 bus will take you to the Village’s doors from the city centre, as well as 66x for early mornings during term time. Please click here for the timetables. Both campus shuttles, UB1 and UB2 stop outside the village.

    The number 4 and 6 busses can take you to Heslington East Campus, which is a short walk from the Sport Village.

    You can also access the Sport Village by foot. Access is available from the Heslington East campus off Field Lane. Follow Kimberlow Lane past the interchange and Langwith College and follow the path which is suitable for pedestrians and cyclists to the York Sport Village. There is no vehicle access from this campus.

  • Why do I need a membership wristband?

    Your wristband is what identifies you as a member and must be worn at all times. You must scan your band at all access doors to gain entry. If you lose your band you would pay £10 for a new one. If you forget your band you can borrow a guest band for a small deposit of £5.

  • How often are the changing rooms cleaned?

    The whole of the sport village is cleaned each morning. Changing rooms and toilets (as well as other areas identified) are cleaned throughout the day by cleaning staff who are on site during this period.

    We have enacted a rigorous cleaning regime due to COVID 19. The entire facility is Deep cleaned every night, and in between bookable sessions. The Swimming changing rooms are cleaned after every swim sessions and Green/Red card system used during swim sessions.

     

  • Do you have car parking facilities?
    • Sport Village parking is permitted for village users for up to three hours.
    • Sport Centre parking is pay and display between the hours of 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.  Free parking is available after 6pm Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends.
    • Fines will be issued for non-compliance.
  • How do I cancel my membership?

    We’d hate to see you leave, but we understand that sometimes things come up and you need to cancel your membership with us. That’s why we’ve made it really simple for you to close your account.

    Pay-monthly/direct debit membership

    If you wish to cancel your direct debit membership payments with us you need to email c.service@harlandsgroup.co.uk in order to action your request.

    Please email from the address associated with your membership and copy info@york-sport.com into your email to Harlands. It is important that you write your request to Harlands as evidence.

    You can also contact Harlands directly on 01444449166 between 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday – Friday and 9.00am to 12.00 on Saturday, still be sure to have contacted them in writing.

    You are committed to provide a minimum of 30 days’ notice before your next payment date, as per our terms and conditions.

    IMPORTANT: Please do not cancel your direct debit, as this will result in additional charges.

    Pay up-front membership

    If you experience exceptional circumstances, we can cancel your up-front membership. Please see our terms and conditions for more information.

    University of York staff payroll

    If you pay for your membership through UoY staff payroll, you need to email info@york-sport.com in order to cancel your account.

    You are committed to provide a minimum of 30 days’ notice before your next payment date as per our terms and conditions.

  • How do I freeze my membership?

    Sometimes life gets in the way, so we understand that you need to have flexible membership options that work for you. That’s why we include the option to freeze your York Sport membership once in a rolling 12 month period – completely free of charge – for a minimum of 1 month to a maximum of 3 months. All members can also purchase additional freeze months, costing just £10 per freeze, per month.

We can only freeze in monthly blocks. The freeze will start on the same date as your payment date. You will not have access to the facilities while the freeze is in place.

    You can also contact Harlands directly on 01444449166 between 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday – Friday and 9.00am to 12.00 on Saturday, still be sure to have written evidence like email.

    Pay up-front membership

    If you have paid up-front for your membership, you need to email info@york-sport.com in order to action your request. You can freeze for a minimum of one full month up to 3 consecutive months and we can only freeze in monthly blocks. We require both a start and an end date on the freeze e.g. from 1st – 31st December. We would extend your contract by the same number of months for which you have frozen.
